OUR PROCESS.
We work within the community to design, develop, and implement placemaking to identify spaces and create meaning. We apply tactical urbanism principles to celebrate the opportunities found in activating spaces for a short weekend or a long time to come. Placemaking is present in how we transform spaces for an event, design thinking session, or even making places for social interactions. The following describes each step we will take with you during our collaboration.

START WITH LISTENING
Creating places for people to linger begins with listening, researching, and discovering a need. Through a series of design thinking methods, surveys, and prototyping exercises, we begin to notice patterns of needs.

EXPLORE IDEAS
We work to develop ideas on how to address the identified need. We sketch and create models to illustrate how a place’s revitalization can inspire interaction in under-realized spaces. At this stage of the process, we are open to the possibility of the unknown impacting what is feasible. An openness and responsiveness to new possibilities allows us to apply what we learn as we continue developing a solution.

RECOGNIZE ASSETS
Our design team works together to recognize nearby places that have assets to help enhance and come alongside ideas. Working in the context of community, we utilize placemaking as an opportunity to further partnerships and build opportunities for people present in our community and beyond to drive public perception of space. What is already present in our community that can help us meet this need? How can we connect people and resources to create a meaningful place?

IDENTIFY CONSTRAINTS
What financial, social, and time constraints are present? Using this information, we develop a plan on how our assets, ideas, and constraints can work together to bring to life new possibilities. Leveraging our assets, we test, prototype, and render responsive ideas.

OUTCOME EVALUATION
Placemaking presents unique opportunities to develop a space over time. We bring the vision to life by coordinating artists, building furniture, and planning events to celebrate the placemaking present in our community. We implement our ideas with hope and possibility, highlighting the ever present potential within a space. The space is rejuvenated and helping create new life in its surroundings!
