TO DESIGN

Our Process

Karis Parenting equips parents and caregivers of young children with daily tools to seamlessly weave their faith into early childhood development activities. These activities are intentionally built to be both scientifically sound and spiritually enriching. After working with Karis to design a children’s book series, we helped them integrate the look and feel of this series with product photography as well as lifestyle photography and video.

Karis Parenting had existing product offerings (such as the Nature’s Wonders card decks) and had already completed writing the board book series. Each board book featured illustrations from a different artist. These five illustration styles combined with existing products presented a wide range of visual styles. Our task was to create a cohesive design that would unify the reading experience for all five books within the full Karis Parenting product offering.
We began developing layouts, type treatments, and unique icon identifiers for each of the five books. With themes of family, nature, story, and spirituality, these books outline the Via Karis, or “Way of Life.” We were able to work with the illustrators, collaborating on layout best practices and readability for the books. We also developed the designs for a case to function as a box set, holding all five books.

When the books were complete, we worked with Karis Parenting and their marketing partners in pre-production, production, and final delivery for multiple photo and video shoots. These shoots featured talent representing the developmentally appropriate audience for these books in home environments.
This process provided a substantial library of media in a wide variety of applications. These items were used to promote the full suite of Karis Parenting products for their website, social medial, and marketing presence. Additional supplementary designs provided support for print applications.

The final result was a set of five board books, product photography, and lifestyle photography and video. Each of these resources supports Karis Parenting’s goal of providing parents with age-appropriate activities for faith formation grounded in child development research.
